Cannabis Campaigner Winstone Matthews Jailed for 16 months

If cannabis prisoner Winston Matthews lived in the United States, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Holland and a great many other locations, he would be eligible for medicinal cannabis under one of a great many state sanctioned medical marijuana programs.

But as things stand Winston is a proud citizen of the United Kingdom and for the colour of his passport Winston has been sentenced to 16 months in High Down Prison, Surrey, for wishing to improve the quality of his life

He has been sent to jail because Winston, like a great many before him, finds cannabis eases the aches & pains associated with getting older, better than any opiate based prescription medicine.

Rather than have to buy it, at prices inflated by government actions against cannabis growers like Winston, he decided to grow it himself, without any suggestion at all of supply.

Of course that goes against the party line, even though more than 50 million citizens worldwide now have safe legal access to medicinal cannabis.
Winston has constantly explained to numerous judges he has appeared before, that he wishes not to break the law. He would much prefer the courts were left to deal with crimes which create a victim.

So isn't it a bit rich, in these times of austerity, the tax-payer is having to stump up £50,000 + a year to imprison Winston, whilst the Home Office scours prison records looking for convicted criminals to release early, in a bid to save money?

FREE WINSTON MATTHEWS!!!!!
Why must our government continue to ignore the medicinal values of cannabis?? They are responsible for the pain and suffering of many, many patients who are denied the benefits of a PLANT.
If the draconian U.S.A can see the light after wasting billions on a phoney "war on drugs" then why are we continuing to let our bunch of out-of-touch, ill behaved M.P's decide what's best?
The economy would receive a welcome boost from a previously "black market" controlled income source and the amount of freed up police time would be advantagous to scaling cut-backs in the police force as the amout of time wasted over small cannabis possession and personal grows would no longer be accounted for.
We need a voice to lead the way to a better quality of life for us all not just us stoners.
