10 tips to hide your high

Every one of us experienced cannabis lovers has come across a time when they were stoned out of their minds but needed to conceal it from the world.

Maybe your parents stop by, or you got called into an emergency shift at work, or you have to make a last minute trip to the store. Whatever your reason is, you need to look sober and fast.

If you’re a seasoned smoker, people probably won’t be able to tell so easy if you’ve been smoking or ate an edible. But if you are still a bit of a newbie, the following tips could prove extremely helpful.

1. SUNGLASSES

Some people tend to get the infamous red eyes when they smoke. Whenever possible, wear sunglasses so no one can see your bloodshot eyes.

If you are indoors, then please refrain, as this could make you look even more suspicious than when having red eyes.

Expanding on the above note, eye drops can really be your best friends when you’re high. Not only can they make your eyes look nice and clear both indoors and outdoors, but it also feels so refreshing to use some drops when your eyes are starting to feel as dry as the Sahara desert.

3. FRESHEN UP

If you’ve been smoking, particles of smoke will be in your clothes, hair, and on your skin and breath, and it can be pretty noticeable. This issue could be easily resolved with a shower, but if that’s not an option at the moment, try using some hand sanitiser, lotion, deodorant, or body spray/perfume.

It’s also not a bad idea to keep a change of clothes handy, if possible.

4. MIND OVER MATTER

Whether you want to or not, sometimes you end up with unexpected things to do when you get stoned. Imagine this, you just smoke a nice fatty of a heavy indica, made yourself a nice plate of food, and got a movie ready. Then all of a sudden your in-laws or neighbours stop by. Damn.

Most likely, the last thing you might want to do at this moment is sit around and chat, but you must. Double damn.

You’ll have to really dig deep and remember “mind over matter” to garner the motivation to interact, but it’s definitely possible.

Trying to look normal when you feel like you look anything but normal is no easy task. However, fidgeting absolutely does not look normal, so that’s often a dead giveaway that someone is baked. Try to focus your attention on something else instead.

Have you ever been stoned and started to worry about whether you're being offensive, annoying, weird, or just simply not making any sense? Well, chances are, you probably were doing at least one of the above, if not all four.

The best way to stay away from making these types of mistakes and avoid even thoughts like these is to simply be quiet.

If you’re trying to be discreet, chatting with random people about random topics probably won’t help. And remember, only you can hear your thoughts!

7. LET IT GO

If you’ve smoked a bit too much it can be easy to start fixating on one thing in your mind and letting your thoughts start spiralling out of control. Try to relax and distract yourself with something else. Some say that a fidget spinner helps.

This one doesn’t need very much explaining. If you’re trying to hide your high, you’ll have to hide the bong, pipe, and roaches too.

One of the top and only rules for being a weed-lover is, you need to relax. If find yourself panicking about how high you may appear to the rest of the world, just stop. Step outside, take a few deep breaths and make the best of your high.

10. MAKE A PLAN

Although making a detailed plan of things you could possibly have to do that day kind of defeats the purpose of smoking to relax, it’s not necessarily a bad idea to make a short list of possible tasks and keep that in the back of your mind, just in case.
