Help, my partner hates weed
Hi there guys and gals at Cannabis.info!
I have been a long time visitor of your site. I have been smoking, growing and basically loving the herb for many years. I have read your articles about weed and sex and so on, but I would like to have your opinion on something.
I have been dating who could be the love of my life for about 3 years now. She is all great and life basically is great, but there is one problem. She hates weed.
She has tried to smoke it herself, didn’t like it (probably she was a bit young still), tried it again, had a bit bad experience with it, and that’s it. Of course this is no problem, as weed doesn’t have to be for everybody. But the problem is that she really dislikes my love for the plant.
She doesn’t like that I grow my own plants, and is afraid I might get caught. I grow only a couple of plants each year for my own pleasure, and have been doing so for many years so I think I know what I’m doing. But she really hates it when i smoke or have smoked.
According to her it changes me and creates a distance between her and me.
What to do?
Thank you for your letter. And wow… We must say that we were a little surprised by your question, as we usually get questions about growing.
So we’re also to really sure what to advice you. But maybe you said it your self already, she could be the love of your life. Maybe you should figure out how to make it work out for both of you.
You say that she doesn’t like you when you’ve smoked weed. What does this mean? Do you become more solitude? Or maybe you think everything is funny and can’t form a serious thought anymore? Do you get so baked that you can’t concentrate on her anymore?
It is a known fact that some strains have other effects on a person than other strains, so maybe you could try smoking some sativa if the problem is that you become too relaxed or even lazy after smoking a strong indica.
Maybe it could be an idea to microdose cannabis when you are around her, or know that you will be on the same day even. Microdosing means that you use only small dosages of weed and for some patients, it is a perfect way for patients to treat certain conditions without getting too high. You take a tiny dose of cannabis, wait a while, and possibly take another dose if necessary.
If your thing is to be a little high over longer periods, maybe you could try just getting a little high each time.
You also mentioned that her personal experiences with cannabis were not that positive, so maybe you could try to change that somehow. When talking to a loved one about cannabis, education might be one of the most important things. Try educating her a bit more about cannabis. This might also help yourself in having better arguments next time somebody objects.
For some people cannabis helps relieving stress and can even help against depression in order not to turn to more dangerous substances and medicine.
But like we said, we need to stress that we know more about growing than about relationships, so keep this in mind. We do however hope you can settle this matter and hope you’ll find a way to live a happy life with both your girlfriend, and the other love of your life.
Good luck with it all and hopefully you'll invite us to your wedding one day!
