How to make weed-infused sugar
The beauty of cannabis is that it can be infused into many foodstuffs. Cooking is often done with infused butter or oil. Surprisingly, marijuana can even be infused into sugar.
Weed-infused sugar has a wide variety of uses, like cranking up that morning coffee or making desserts that shouldn’t be served to nanna. This is how you make weed-infused sugar. Sweet’N Low? No way! Make mine Sweet’N High!
When preparing edibles of any kind, it is essential to decarboxylate your cannabis of choice. Placing chopped buds in a low temperature oven (120°C/250°F) on a sheet tray for 30–45 minutes converts the non-psychoactive precursor THCA into THC. The more THC, the merrier.
- Glass jar with lid
- Cheesecloth or muslin; even an old (clean) T-shirt.
- Glass baking dish
- 3g of decarboxylated cannabis
- 120ml of high-proof, unflavored alcohol such as Everclear
- 100g granulated sugar
1. Place the decarboxylated cannabis in a glass jar and pour in the alcohol. Secure with lid. Every five minutes, shake the jar well. Do this for twenty minutes.
2. Use the cloth to strain the alcohol into the bowl. Throw the depleted plant matter away.
3. Add the sugar and stir until it is dissolved.
4. Once dissolved, transfer into the glass baking dish and place in an oven at 93°C/200°F. Stir regularly until all the alcohol has evaporated off and the sugar recrystallizes.
5. The sugar, now golden with THC goodness, is ready to use.
