The cultivation, sale, and possession of cannabis for recreational purposes are illegal in Morocco.
Cannabis is widely used in Morocco and the country is known as one of the largest producers of marijuana.
There probably isn't a single coffeeshop in Amsterdam that does not sell at least one kind of Maroccian hashies, also known as simply "Maroc".
Many farmers grow cannabis because it’s the only crop that makes enough money to get by, even though technically this is illegal.
Although it is easy to find good quality cannabis, possession of cannabis in Morocco is illegal and will be punished.
There have been several attempts by several parties to somehow get marijuana legalized in Morocco.
In 2016, a movement called “Maroc Cannabis 2016” again called for legalizing and taxing marijuana cultivation, but unfortunately nothing has been changed yet.
