Spider Mites on my plants. What now?
I have a question…
A friend of mine gave me one of his cuttings. I put it into my growing tent and forgot about it for a couple of days. About 2-3 days afterwards when attending the plants, I noticed these little spider alike insects walking around the leaves of the cutting my friend gave me.
I did not see them anywhere else for now. What is that and what can I do about this?
I am sorry we have to tell you this, but it seems like your friend passed you a cutting with Spider Mites. This is one of the most common pests in marijuana gardens, and unfortunately means trouble as it can kill your crops.
If possible, quarantine this plant from all the others and create a totally separate space for it. Absolutely make sure to not get it close to any other plants until you are sure you got rid of the problem.
If you don't have this possibility and it is not concerning a plant with your most desired genetics, we even advice you to trash it and wait for your friend solves his pest problem so you can get a new one.
The best way to get rid of Spider Mites is by using biological control agents which do not harm the plants by leaving non consumable, toxic residues like some chemical pesticides can do. Some insecticidal soap based products, essential oils, natural neem products can be successfully used.
On the picture you send, you can clearly see that there's many mature mites on the plant, which might create a colony within days. Try to act fast and make sure to check the other plants and keep these clean to minimize your damage.
I hope you can save your other plants and let us know how it turns out!
